FIREWOOD FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Tauriko Sawmill processes many different timbers. The biproduct is the source of our firewood. Our mixed density wood baskets generally consist of a mixture of timbers such as macrocarpa, lawson, douglas fir, redwood, cedar and pine. Hardwoods are separated out and sold as mixed hardwood baskets which are mainly gum but may include other hardwoods. Our firewood is milled slab and dressed timber offcuts along with some split wood.

Not generally, although you are welcome to come to the sawmill and select your own. You can choose from mixed softwood/medium density wood baskets or mixed hardwood baskets.

The firewood is generally 250/300mm long, with occasional shorter or longer pieces.

If you have particular needs it’s best to come out to the mill to select your own.

Usually yes, but seasoned hardwood supplies are limited & it sells out fast. Recommended to order in the summer months.

Sometimes we have baskets of split firewood available.

Seasoned - yes. Wet if raining as our firewood is not shed stored. We would encourage you to buy during the summer months to avoid issues.

Spring & Summer are the best time to buy firewood. You can lock in the best quality of firewood “not fully seasoned” & store it (in an area where air can circulate) ready for use when the cold weather arrives.

There are many variables including;
o how cold you get
o is your home insulated
o the size of your house
o how many hours a day will you run a fire etc.
Most households use between 4 and 8 cube a year.

FIREWOOD DELIVERY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We can deliver up to 3.6 cube (3 baskets).

Our little truck is a Hino Dutro. It’s 4.7m long & 2.1m wide including the side mirrors. It is not 4-wheel drive. We have a 4-wheel drive Ute for smaller loads (x1 basket max)

Please fill out the on-line request form or email directly. Please include your contact details. We reply promptly, usually the same day, to confirm a delivery date & supply payment details. We require payment made in full before firewood deliveries made.

Only if you can't be found on google maps. Otherwise the address is all we require.

Please just leave a TIP HERE sign out and advise if you have a steep/difficult driveway. It needs to be reasonable flat where we tip.

Between 9am - 2pm Mon – Fri and by arrangement on a Saturday morning.

Yes of course. If no one replies we'll leave the mill for your house anyway.

No need to be home. Please leave a TIP HERE sign out though.

This is not possible unless you have a high stud. The truck is nearly 5m high with the tray up. We can tip at the door though.
